  • Dr. Kenneth Sunshine was recognized as the new AAE District II Representative.
  • Mention was made of a possible run-off election at the AAE annual meeting for position of AAE treasurer, as Dr. Mitch Davitch was not placed on the election ballot by the AAE nominating committee.
  • Mention was made that Dr. Marc Balson was to present a lecture entitled "Endodontic and Implant Treatment Planning: fact, fiction and hype" at the CSDA annual session at Mohegan Sun on May 7, 2009.
  • 1.Dr. Joseph Siracuse presented a report on the CTMOM held at the New Haven Athletic Center April 16-19, 2009. Two dental treatment days were provided on April 17 and April 18 and this was the first year that Connecticut endodontists participated in the event. 9 CAE members participated. On Friday, Balla, Derosiers, Kowalski, Hyman, Bushell, Chasen and Siracuse provided treatment. On Saturday, Amoroso, Siracuse, King and Cha provided treatment. Both Drs. Cha and Siracuse acted as team leaders for both days. A total of 1100 patients were seen by all dental providers at CTMOM on Friday and 800 patients were treatedon Saturday. Dr. Cha showed a series of slides taken at CTMOM and further described the event. The CTMOM will be held in Middletown next year, and Dr. John Russo will be team leader for the endodontic section.
  • Committee Reports:
Dr. John Russo discussed Bylaws changes, highlighting several amendments to the bylaws that had previously been sent to all CAE members with the CAE Spring meeting announcement. Chief among the changes were: a revised position of Secretary/Treasurer and a stand alone position of President, a reduction in dues for CAE members who were also active U.S. Service members, a gender neutral revision of Bylaws wording and a provision to allow officers to spend up to $500.00 without formal vote by the membership.
Dr. Tom Turek presented the nominating committee report, nominating Dr. Mark Schleider as President and Dr. Brian Amoroso as Secretary/Treasurer. The ballot was presented to the floor and accepted unanimously by the membership. Dr. Turek thanked both Drs. Cha and Schleider for their dedicated service to the CAE for the term of 2007-2009.
  • Dr. Ken Sunshine thanked the members of the CAE for their support of the 9th annual Golf Classic on May 6, 2009 at the Mohegan Sun Country Club at Pautipaug.
  • Dr. Russo introduced the UConn endodontic residents and recognized that the CAE graciously took care of their dinner dues.
  • Dr. Mark Schleider recommended that the CAE consider moving the Spring meeting from April to another month. His recommendation was made considering the fact that several other meetings were held in the same period and his belief that attendance may be improved if the Spring meeting was strategically reassigned to another month.
  • Dr. Ken Chasen recommended that the CAE donate $1000.00 to CTMOM.
  • Dr. Amoroso informed the membership of an online website that could be utilized to satisfy the mandatory state CE core credits. The website referenced was HomestudySolutions.com.
  • Dr. Justin Kiolnick, a practicing endodontist in Weschester, N.Y., presented a lecture entitled: Predicting Endodontic Success.

Respectfully Submitted,
Brian Amoroso, D.D.S.
